Even With Cooking, the Customer is Always Right

You’ve probably heard the popular saying, “the customer is always right.” This saying is intended to showcase the idea that creators need to listen to their targeted audience and listen to their feedback earnestly. Artists and creators of all kinds can be very proud when it comes to their work, so truly listening to the customer isn’t always easy. But it’s important to do and this is definitely the case when it comes to cooking.

Trust Your Audience

You love making food for your friends and family and they love your cooking too. But if they say something is off about what you made, you don’t have to get offended. Just tweak your process and perfect it for next time.

This is also true in the opposite sense. You should trust them when they say that something you made is delicious. We have a tendency to overthink things and be self-critical about our work—so believe their compliments because you’re probably an awesome chef!

The Exception

Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. If you’re preparing something healthy for your children, and they claim they want some cake instead of the veggies on their plate, you can rest happily knowing that you’re giving them what they need, even if it’s not the tastiest thing on the planet.
