Overnight oats are the perfect option for a quick and easy breakfast—simply combine equal amounts of oatmeal and your favorite milk (or plant-based milk) in a jar and place the mixture in the fridge overnight. Two-thirds of a cup of each is about enough for a single serving. The oats will absorb the milk and be ready to eat in the morning without having to be cooked on the stove. Although convenient, oats and milk alone are a relatively bland combination, so we recommend adding some fruit, nuts, or spices. Here are some of our favorite additions:

Peanut Butter and Jelly

It’s a classic pairing sure to take you back to your childhood. When combining the oats and milk, add a tablespoon of natural peanut butter and stir until it’s incorporated throughout. Spoon two tablespoons of your favorite jelly (we love grape!) on top before placing it in the fridge.

Black Forest Cake

Add one teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa to your oat and milk mixture along with a tablespoon of dark chocolate chips. Top with a tablespoon of cherry jam for an indulgent breakfast sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.

Cinnamon Bun

Add one teaspoon of ground cinnamon and one tablespoon of maple syrup to your oat and milk mixture. When you’re ready to eat, drizzle a little coconut butter on top with a teaspoon before digging in!
