Fall is the ideal season for camping and especially for bonfires. If you love a good bonfire or campfire and enjoy eating and hanging out in the woods, then you might be looking to try your hand at cooking over a fire. Here are some easy things to start with.

Potatoes

Potatoes are incredibly simple to make and deliciously cooked almost any way. To cook them on the fire, simply wrap a whole potato in tinfoil and use a fire-safe tool to place it in the embers of the fire. When it’s ready, use the tool to carefully remove, take off the foil, and top with whatever you like.

Skillet Pizza

The nice thing about cast iron skillets is that they are extremely durable. You can use one on a wire rack over a fire pit to cook skillet pizza or even flatbread without needing much skill that you wouldn’t have from cooking in a kitchen.

Stew

The most classic although most time-consuming thing to make over a fire is soup or stew. Use a big pot, pour in lots of water and whatever ingredients you like, and leave it over the fire, stirring regularly, until it reaches the desired consistency.
