If you’re a new parent whose child is just starting to eat real food, you might be considering making the food at home. This is in many cases much cheaper than buying from the store, and cooking for your child can be a meaningful experience for many parents that you may be eager to try out. Luckily, there are some easy recipes you can make yourself. Here are a few.

Blackberry, Apple, Oat and Coconut Puree

This puree of fruits, oats, and coconut cream is yummy and healthy. Fruits and oats contain lots of healthy sugars and fiber, while oats contain protein and coconut cream has healthy fats and will make your puree smoother and easier for your child to swallow. Start by chopping and steaming your apples to make them mushier, then blend everything in a food processor until smooth.

Pea Puree

Peas are a super healthy vegetable that is very conducive to blending, and it’s a common thing to buy frozen so you won’t need to wait around for the dried peas to cook. Simply steam some dried peas for about 15 minutes until very mushy, and then puree in a food processor. Add a little formula or water if it needs to be creamier. In general, you can do this with many different fruits and vegetables: steam and puree for a nice little baby meal. Just be sure to talk to your doctor about which fruits and veggies are safe for a baby.

Pear Sauce

To introduce some more richness and flavor as your baby gets a little older, you can make this yummy pear sauce. As usual, you steam the pears, but then you’ll add butter and cinnamon to the puree for a little extra something.
