Everyone loves a good pasta sauce – after all, it is the ultimate finish of the dish. Here is a simple recipe for preparing Alfredo sauce that will not take much of your time but will be the best sauce you’ve ever tasted.
For this sauce, you will need:
- 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream or half-and-half
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese (2 1/2 ounces)
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- You will also need a large stainless-steel skillet and a fine cheese grater
INSTRUCTIONS
Melt the butter in a skillet on medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until it gets a light brown color, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Then, slowly add the heavy cream and whisk until they’re mixed well. Leave the mixture to sit for about 3-4 minutes with infrequent whisking. When the cream simmers, add the Parmesan cheese, nutmeg, salt and pepper or any other seasoning you might prefer. Cook until the sauce is thick, around 3-4 minutes. The sauce is ready when it can cover the back of a spoon. Serve it on your pasta as soon as it’s ready.
