If you’re a deep lover of all things cheese, especially pizza, chances are you’ve dreamt of traveling to Italy. While yes, there is amazing pizza to be had in many other corners of the world, from America to Australia, Italy is said to be the where pizza came from—so naturally it makes sense to want to check it out. However, if you do end up making it out there, and you hit up a pizzeria, here’s a little tip: don’t take your food to go.

Difference of Culture

In America, there’s nothing wrong with taking your food to go. When you tell your waiter that you’d like to do so, they take no offense. They don’t believe it’s because you don’t like the food. In fact, you may even get a chance to tell them that the food was amazing, but you simply want to save some for later, and that’ll make sense to them.

Not so much in Italy. If you ask any Italian, they’ll advise against taking any pizza to go because it’ll be considered rude. Even if you’re dining alone and have a full pie to yourself, the act of not finishing it right then and there means you didn’t enjoy the meal, according to the owner. So finish your food!
