An air fryer is a must-have kitchen appliance. It cooks food surprisingly fast, is mess-free, and gives perfect results most of the time. Also, you can use it to prepare a lot of dishes than you would think.

People usually use the air fryer for simpler dishes like chicken wings, French fries, fish, and bacon. But there is nothing stopping you from taking your air fryer cooking to another level and preparing a whole chicken in it. You just need to follow a few simple guidelines.

How to Cook a Whole Chicken in an Air Fryer

Cooking a whole chicken in an air fryer compared to an oven has many perks. You’ll be able to cook it in half the time and can get it as juicy and crispy as you want.

To cook a whole chicken in an air fryer, start by patting the chicken dry using paper towels. Then, rub in your preferred seasoning. If you don’t want to get adventurous, black pepper and salt will do just fine.

Place the chicken inside the air fryer and cook for 30 minutes at 350 F. Then flip it and cook for another half an hour. The cooking time applies for a four-pound chicken, so adjust it if cooking larger or smaller chicken.
