Delicious Patties You Can Make with a Can of Tuna

We’re all currently looking for recipes that feature simple ingredients we already have in our pantry, and canned tuna comes to mind. You can use it to make all sorts of amazing dishes, including delicious patties.

Carmen Sturdy, who runs food blog Every Last Bite, came up with this amazing recipe, which became a huge hit with her followers because they’re a great dish to throw together when you are low on food.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans tuna (5oz cans)
  • 1 tbsp of the liquid from the tuna can
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 2 tbsp grated red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped scallions
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp dijon mustard or mustard powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Add the tuna with 1 tbsp of the liquid from the can to a bowl and break them up with a fork.
  2. After properly breaking the tuna, add one egg, almond flour, chopped parsley, lemon juice and zest, red onion, scallions, mustard, and salt and pepper. Stir it all together, and adjust the seasoning if you’re not happy with the taste.
  3. Use the mixture to form six patties, and place them inside a plate or tray lined with parchment paper. Let them cool off for a minimum of 20 minutes because it helps them become firmer and hold together when frying.
  4. Heat up olive oil inside an iron skillet on medium heat, and let patties fry for approximately four minutes. Once the golden crust forms, flip the patties and cook them on the other side.
