Some fruit and vegetables can be peeled in a heartbeat, while others you don’t even have to peel to consume (these are the best). But there are also some that will test your patience until you managed to peel them correctly. That is, if you don’t use these tips and tricks that’ll make the process a lot easier.

Garlic

Pealing each clove of garlic separately can be a time-consuming task. But if you have a mason jar nearby, you can peel a large amount of garlic in under a minute. Separate the cloves and put them in a jar, and the close the jar and shake for around thirty seconds. This will remove all the skin and leave you with unpeeled garlic.

Peach

Some people don’t mind the peach’s fuzzy skin, but others like to remove it before digging in. If you belong to the latter group and don’t want to mess with a knife or peeler, then there is a great hack you can use next time you’re craving peaches.

The first thing you need to do is place the peach in boiling water and boil for around thirty seconds. After that, let it sit in a bath of cold water for a few minutes.  This treatment will let you remove the skin in a few rubs.

Potatoes

The previous hack can also be used for potatoes. The difference is that you’ll need to make a line around the center of the potato before you place it in the boiling water, and you’ll have to boil them until they become tender (around 15 minutes will do). Then do the same ice water bath and enjoy how easily they peel.

Orange

To get to the refreshing inside of an orange faster, you’ll need to cut its edges on both sides. Then make a vertical cut and simply unfold it to uncover the slices.

Strawberry

Technically, strawberries don’t need peeling, but you still need to remove their green top to eat them. To do this easy and fast, you’ll just need a straw. Insert the straw at the bottom and just push through the strawberry. This will remove the leaves and leave you with all that tasty strawberry meat intact.

Ginger

Using a peeler or a knife to peel ginger can be both dangerous and cost you a lot of ginger meat. To avoid this, just scrap the ginger’s skin with a spoon. It will easily come off, and you’ll have your ginger ready to go in a heartbeat.

Tomato

Tomatoes are usually eaten with their skin, but some recipes in cooking will require you to remove it. You can do this quickly by making a cross-section on the top of the tomato and putting it in a microwave for around 20 seconds. The heat will cause the skin to be loose, and you’ll be able to remove it with no fuss.
