If there’s one thing we go crazy for, it’s a good kitchen hack! The internet is full of ‘em—and some are better than others—so when we see a goodie, we make sure to note it down. Here are some of our favorites (and we’re sure they’ll be yours, too!

Removing that Annoying Tendon in Chicken

If you’ve ever had to make a chicken breast tender, you’re likely familiar with that annoying bit of white cartilage in the meat. The easiest way to remove the tendon is to place a fork around it, get a grip by using a paper towel, and pull! The tendon will come out in one long piece.

Clean Your Apples

You know how lovely and shiny apples look in the store? It’s usually because they’re covered in synthetic wax. Before taking a bite, try using a knife to scrape off the wax, put them in a bowl of water, and then use a nail brush to buff them.

Get the Best Crust on Your Mushrooms

Mushrooms make an excellent substitute for steak, so why not go all the way and recreate that enviable crust? The crust is created through a reaction between reducing sugars and amino acids. In order to achieve this with mushrooms, boil them before frying.
