Cold-brewed coffee, or cold brew, is a very popular beverage right now. You can find it in most coffee shops, or you can easily make it at home. Cold brew can be delicious on its own, but if straight coffee isn’t your thing, then you might want to add some syrups or flavorings. You can ask for these when you order at most shops, but if you want to control your flavors or just save some money, here’s some ideas for flavors you can make right at home.

Vanilla-Cinnamon

An absolute classic, the vanilla-cinnamon brings a comforting warmth to your cold drink. To make this for your cold brew, simply dissolve about two teaspoons of sugar, half a teaspoon of cinnamon, and a drop of vanilla extract in a bit of boiling water and mix. Then add directly to the cold brew, little by little until it tastes right.

Molasses

For a darker, more complex sweetness, you can add a molasses-heavy sweetener to your cold brew. Do this by combining one part dark brown sugar, which is rich in molasses, with one part hot water to create a syrup. To play up the complexity, add a bit of maple syrup to the mix as well.

Butter Caramel

Caramel is mainly made from butter and brown sugar. To mimic a caramel flavor, add a bit of melted butter to the molasses syrup and mix vigorously. To really play up the caramel notes, try browning the butter before you add it.
