Ingredients:
- 1 whole skinless chicken cut into 8 pieces
- 3 teaspoons sea salt
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 4 curry leaves
- 1 cup brown lentils
- 1/2 inch grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 tablespoon curry powder
- 1 finely chopped large onion
- 3 cups water for the lentils
- 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro
- 3 tablespoons sunflower oil
- 1 tablespoon curry powder
- 1/4 cup water for the curry
- 2 diced small tomatoes
- juice of 1 lemon
- 1/2 tablespoon juice for garnish
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 3 green chili
Instructions:
- Combine the turmeric, oil, salt, curry powder, lemon juice, paprika, and chicken in a bowl. Mix all the ingredients together. Leave the chicken in the bowl overnight.
- Place the lentils in water for 15 minutes. Next, boil them in a pot for 10 minutes. Remove the water and place the lentils aside.
- Cook the chicken together with 1/4 cup water in a pot with a cover. After 10 minutes you can add the ginger, tomatoes, onion, lemon juice, curry leaves, and chilies. Cook for 15 more minutes.
- Include the lentils, then cook for 5 to 10 minutes. You can now serve the chicken dhansak. Top it off with a squeeze of lemon juice, fresh ginger, and garam masala.
