This short and (literally) sweet video by @lilyghodrati demonstrates a simple, straightforward way to upgrade your butter-and-jam toast into a lovely flower-shaped creation in just a few basic cuts. All you need is a slice of bread, a cutting board, and a properly functioning kitchen knife!

To create what LilyG calls a “twisted toast”, place the bread slice on a cutting board, and create four slightly diagonal incisions. Then, twist the cut-out edges into one another, creating a flower-shaped structure that would put expert paper mache artists to shame. In the middle of your bread, spread butter and jam – and you’re pretty much done. You can also make your own version with any kind of spread or toppings you like or mix it up with different ingredients each time.
Finally, don’t forget to put the toast in the oven until the bread looks sort of brownish (but not burnt brown, of course).
Next, eat! Everything is so much more delicious when your eyes take part in the experience, too.
