If you’re looking for a juicy new meal that can please the whole family, then a carbonara pizza is perfect for you. Combining ingredients from a traditional spaghetti carbonara with a delicious pizza, here’s how you can cook up a carbonara pizza to light up dinnertime.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound pizza dough
- Flour
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup Pecorino Romano cheese
- 4 ounces pancetta or bacon
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon chopped chives
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 450°F.
- Place the pancetta in a skillet and cook over a medium heat flame. Cook for about 6 minutes, until the pancetta is golden.
- Stretch the dough into a 12-inch circle and place on a floured surface before transferring to a baking sheet.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Pecorino Romano over the dough before topping with cooked pancetta and pepper.
- Put the baking sheet with the dough in the oven and bake until the dough is puffy but still pale. The cheese should be melted. This process should take around 8 minutes.
- While the pizza is baking, place the egg and yolk in a bowl without whisking.
- Once the pizza is ready, take it out of the oven and place the whole egg over the pizza.
- Return the pizza to the oven and cook further for about five minutes, at which point the egg yolk is runny.
- Break the yolk and drizzle all over the pizza.
