If you’re looking for a juicy new meal that can please the whole family, then a carbonara pizza is perfect for you. Combining ingredients from a traditional spaghetti carbonara with a delicious pizza, here’s how you can cook up a carbonara pizza to light up dinnertime.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • Flour
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup Pecorino Romano cheese
  • 4 ounces pancetta or bacon
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Place the pancetta in a skillet and cook over a medium heat flame. Cook for about 6 minutes, until the pancetta is golden.
  3. Stretch the dough into a 12-inch circle and place on a floured surface before transferring to a baking sheet.
  4. Sprinkle mozzarella and Pecorino Romano over the dough before topping with cooked pancetta and pepper.
  5. Put the baking sheet with the dough in the oven and bake until the dough is puffy but still pale. The cheese should be melted. This process should take around 8 minutes.
  6. While the pizza is baking, place the egg and yolk in a bowl without whisking.
  7. Once the pizza is ready, take it out of the oven and place the whole egg over the pizza.
  8. Return the pizza to the oven and cook further for about five minutes, at which point the egg yolk is runny.
  9. Break the yolk and drizzle all over the pizza.
