When you have a certain amount of donuts at home, it can be difficult to resist eating them all in one sitting. If you don’t want to consume all the extra calories just to be sick later, one of the ways to save your donuts for later can be freezing them. But if you’ve never tried freezing donuts before, you probably have some questions about it.

When to Do It

Donuts taste the best when they are fresh, so it’s a fair question to ask if they should be frozen as soon as possible or if you can do it a few days later. If you can choose, it’s best to do it sooner than later, so they can remain delicious after defrosting. If you freeze stale donuts, they will taste stale later too.

Pay attention not to freeze them too soon. You definitely want to let them cool down first, otherwise they will become soggy in no time.

How to Do It

Pack the donuts in big freezer bags by arranging them in a single layer. If you have a lot and need to stack them in two layers, use wax paper between the layers. Store in the freezer for up to three months.
