Baking a pumpkin pie is a satisfying process but one that comes with more than a few challenges. One of them is determining when the pumpkin pie is perfectly baked and ready to come out of the oven. Luckily, there are several ways you can test this without ruining this delicious fall dessert.

Thermometer Test

This is the most reliable test. Simply insert a thermometer in the center and check out the reading. If the pie’s internal temperature is 175F or higher, then it is ready to come out. If not, put it back in the oven for five to ten minutes and then check again.

Knife Test

If you don’t have an instant thermometer, then your knife can also serve the purpose. Simply stick the knife in the center of the pie. If the knife comes out clean, that is a good sign that the pumpkin pie is done baking and can be taken out.

Shake Test

Don’t want to poke any holes in your pumpkin pie? Turn to the “shake” test. Take the pie out of the oven and gently shake it. If the center slightly jiggles, then the pie is done. There shouldn’t be any movement that indicates there is some liquid that hasn’t solidified yet.
