Muffins are one of those desserts that we usually make in larger batches and it’s difficult to eat them all at once. That’s why it’s extremely important to store your leftovers properly and here’s a brief guide to the best storage methods and their ups and downs.

Room Temperature

Once your muffins cool off, it’s safe to leave them at room temperature, but simply leaving them on the countertop isn’t enough to keep them fresh. You can store them inside an airtight container or a Ziploc bag—just make sure to line the bottom with a paper towel so it could absorb excess moisture.

Refrigerator

Storing muffins inside our fridge may seem like a no-brainer because we use it to keep most of the other foods fresh, but it’s not always the best idea. Savory muffins containing cheese and meat can be stored this way for up to six days, but sweet varieties are best left out of the fridge.

Freezer

If you want to store your muffins for longer, you can try freezing them for up to three months. Place them in a single layer in a freezer bag and remember it’s important to thaw them before eating them.
