It is not unusual to be running against time when finishing up a cake or batch of cupcakes. Either you have guests coming over soon, or you need somewhere to be. That is when people usually meet a dilemma—to try and quickly whip up the frosting or to ditch the frosting altogether.

Unfortunately, neither of these options sounds too good. If you try and hurry the frosting, you might end up with one that will ruin your entire cake. If you go without frosting, you will have an underwhelming dessert.

However, there is a simple solution to this problem. These two frosting recipes only require two ingredients, can be whipped up quickly, and still taste amazing. Check them out below.

Buttercream Frosting

As shared by Adhorle’s Kitchen, the two-ingredient buttercream frosting needs ½ cup softened butter and 1.5 cups confectioners’ sugar. Beat the butter using an electric mixer for five minutes before folding in half of the confectioners’ sugar. Mix for several minutes, and then add the rest of the sugar. Continue mixing for two or three minutes, and you will have yourself a great frosting appearing in front of your eyes.

Milk and Butter Frosting

You can make a two-ingredient frosting even if you don’t want to use confectioners’ sugar. Shared by LifeHacker, the recipe calls for softened butter and sweetened condensed milk. Simply beat the butter for five minutes to introduce air, and then add the sweet milk slowly while continuing to mix. After you have used up all of the milk, continue mixing until you get a fluffy frosting. That’s it.
