Cortado, a small coffee drink popular in Spain, is something every coffee enthusiast should try. It’s made with equal parts of espresso and steamed milk, so it’s stronger and smaller than a cappuccino, but larger than a macchiato. Many find this to be the perfect size of a coffee drink, and cortado’s popularity is certainly on the rise.

Don’t be surprised if you see a large drink also called cortado—it’s not a mistake, it’s just a double cortado with two shots of espresso and two ounces of steamed milk. Cortado comes from Spain, although most espresso-based drinks have Italian heritage.

To make cortado, you’ll need a milk steamer and some kind of an espresso machine (a French press will do the trick if you don’t have a real machine). If you’re not equipped to make it at home, visit the nearest coffee shop and ask for a cortado. Chances are the barista is going to be surprised, but they will make you a drink likely to become your new favorite.

At the very least, you’ll expand your coffee knowledge and get to brag to your friends about it!

It seems like there’s a new TikTok food trend every week, and one thing all of the recipes have in common is that they are super delicious and easy to make. Even if they require a bit more time and effort, it’s usually worth it as TikTok users are all about the flavors. One of the latest hits is called croiffle—a play on a croissant and waffle, and there are a few different ways to make it.

Croiffle is basically a waffle made from a croissant. You take a croissant and cook it in a waffle maker—and you’re done! It’s perfect for when you want to try something new and fun, when you have guests over, or when you want to make an easy treat for your kids.

The easiest way to make croiffles is to buy frozen croissants but instead of baking them in the oven, thaw them, sprinkle with a little sugar, and cook on in the waffle maker on medium temperature. You want them crispy on the outside but soft in the middle. Serve with a scoop of ice cream and your favorite toppings like fruit, caramel sauce, etc.

Baileys Irish Cream is a delicious cream liqueur made of cream, cocoa, and Irish whiskey. It’s sweet and you can drink it on its own with a few ice cubes, or use it in various recipes. Mixing Baileys with food or drinks is always a good idea, and here are our favorite combinations.

Baileys Honey Espresso Affogato

Put a teaspoon of stracciatella flavored ice cream in a bowl, top with some chocolate syrup and honey, then repeat. Pour 50 milliliters of Baileys and two shots of espresso over the ice cream. Enjoy!

Baileys Coffee

This simple yet effective recipe is a great way to turn your regular coffee into an exciting drink, perfect for fall afternoons. Simply add a shot of Baileys to your favorite hot coffee. Optionally, you can top the drink with some whipped cream.

Baileys London Fog

Did you know that you can add Baileys to your tea, too? Make London fog, a beverage with Earl Gray tea, milk, and vanilla, and add some Baileys to it.

You can also come up with your own combinations that use Baileys, just remember that it shouldn’t be used with citrus or citric acid, so ingredients like juice and soda are not a good idea.

Starbucks seasonal drinks make every cold winter a bit more bearable, and it’s always exciting to wait for the arrival of the famous red cup. This season’s offerings are finally here and the list seems to be better than ever. For once, there’s a non-dairy holiday drink that will make many people happy.

“This holiday, we wanted it to feel magical, we wanted it to be warm, and we wanted it to be inclusive,” Suzie Reecer, Starbucks associate creative director, said in a press release. “Our goal was to really bring joy to every customer and every partner.”

Along with the famous Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brûlée Latte, and Peppermint Hot Chocolate, expect to see dairy-free Iced Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Latte. While “giving customers even more choices in their holiday beverage experience”, the drink is available in a hot and iced version. It was inspired by holiday cookies and comes with cookie-flavored syrup, Starbucks Blonde Espresso, ice, and almond milk. The red and green sprinkles topping gives it a final touch.

Read more about Starbucks holiday beverages on the company’s website. Do you have a favorite that you look forward to from season to season? As Reecer said, “It’s all about comfort and connection, and being together.”

Tequila, one of the most popular spirits in the world, comes from Mexico. If you’re curious to try some other drinks that come from this awesome country, keep reading. We selected three drinks you’ll love if you love tequila.

Bacanora

Bacanora, a spirit named after the town of Bacanora, has a rich history but is not as popular as tequila. People started becoming interested in it recently and it’s probably going to be a hit. It’s made from one variety of agave that grows in the mountains in its home region of Sonora.

Mezcal

Mezcal is a name for all agave-based alcohol drinks but also a specific type of liquor. Tequila is one type of mezcal, and the aforementioned bacanora is another. Mexcal (the variety) can be made in only nine Mexican states: Oaxaca, Michoacán, Durango, Puebla, and many more. Most often, it’s made from espadin agave, but it can use other varieties too.

Sotol

Sotol is one of the Mexican spirits that aren’t made from agave, but from the sotol plant, also known as a desert spoon. This aromatic drink can be enjoyed neat or in a cocktail, but it’s less sweet than agave drinks. It’s a popular ingredient of craft cocktails and provides an amazing, smoky note.

Every room looks better with a plant or two, but finding the right plants can be difficult. There’s no need to keep your kitchen plant-free when you know exactly which plants will strive there. Many of them have additional benefits you will love. Keep reading to see what are our best suggestions.

Aloe Vera

Keep aloe vera in the kitchen in case of a sudden burn—its juice is a perfect remedy. It enjoys bright light, so make sure to position it next to the window and let it dry between waterings. To use its healing properties, just take a leaf and squeeze its gel directly on the skin.

Lavender

There’s nothing more charming than a pot of lavender in a rustic kitchen—it will make the whole place more relaxing. It gets bonus points for repelling bugs; flies, moths, and mosquitos will stay away from your kitchen. It will help you look forward to the time spent in the kitchen.

Herbs

Is there anything better than adding fresh herbs to a recipe? You can keep them on hand at all times by planting them in pots and keeping them near the stove. Place basil and rosemary by the window but keep parsley, mint, and chives in the shade.

The spices have the power to completely change the flavor of a meal. Many different cultures share very similar meals that are defined by the spices used in them. Mixing spices is like magic, and the best mixes will transport you to faraway places with just one bite. Here are three of the most popular spice mixes around the world.

Chili Powder

Not to be mixed with chile powder, which is just some dried and crushed chilies, chili powder is a mix of cayenne, paprika, chipotle powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and salt. It’s popular in Mexico and Texas and often used in meat dishes like chili con carne, a popular meat stew.

Herbes de Provence

The spice mix that comes from Provence, France, must be magical, despite its plain name. It was one of Julia Child’s favorites and she’s guilty of popularizing it around the world. It consists of oregano, bay leaf, tarragon, thyme, marjoram, savory, rosemary, and basil.

Pumpkin Pie Spice

The pumpkin pie spice started as a spice mix to put in a pumpkin pie, but it has evolved a lot since then. It’s now a popular piece mix for various desserts and drinks, and it’s made of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice.

Nothing prevents you from cooking your own steaks at home, but if you want to do that, there are a few things to keep in mind. Many people make these common mistakes that are entirely preventable. Here’s how you can avoid them and make the best steak ever.

Wrong Salt

Salt is the primary seasoning we use for steak, and just salt can absolutely be enough. It seems like it’s hard to go wrong with salt, but the type you choose can make a big difference. Stay away from regular, super fine table salt and get some kosher salt with thicker flakes.

Seasoning Timing

You can find different recommendations when it comes to the timing of seasoning your stake. Some claim you should do it just before cooking, others believe the seasoned steak should sit in the fridge for a whole day before cooking, while some believe 40 minutes are enough. Whatever you do, avoid letting the steak warm up to room temperature before you season it. Do it while it’s cold.

Not Drying Steak

There’s an important part of prepping steak for cooking that many sadly skip. It involves taking a paper towel and patting the meat dry before seasoning it. This will allow it to form a delicious crust while cooking.

No pantry is complete without a few types of vinegar that come in handy when you cook. Adding some acid to your meals can improve their flavor a lot, and there are many types of vinegar to choose from. Here are three of the most common ones that every cook needs in their kitchen.

White Vinegar

It may be plain, but white vinegar has many uses in the kitchen, especially outside of cooking. You can use it when preparing food as it provides a clean acidic flavor that some recipes require, plus it’s great for cleaning the sink and greasy dishes.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar can be used on a daily basis thanks to its fruity, acidic flavor that goes well with many different foods. You can even drink it alone or diluted if you like the taste. It’s also great for pickling pretty much anything.

Balsamic Vinegar

When it comes to balsamic vinegar, make sure you’re getting the real stuff as there are some cheaper copies made with red wine vinegar and some sugar. Real balsamic vinegar can be combined with ice cream, strawberries, tomatoes, and similar summertime foods, but it also makes a great salad dressing.
