Contrary to popular belief, fish is actually one of the quickest and easiest and fastest proteins to prepare. The key is to start with fresh fish, use the right seasonings, and not overcook it. Let’s explore three foolproof methods that will have you cooking fish like a pro in no time.

Baking

This method is perfect for busy weeknights. Preheat your oven to 400°F and place your fish fillets in a baking dish. Try a Mediterranean-inspired baked salmon with lemon, garlic, and herbs, or an Asian-fusion miso-glazed cod. For a classic comfort meal, consider a crispy Parmesan-crusted tilapia. Baking typically takes 12-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets.

Pan-frying

For a crispy exterior and tender interior, try pan-frying. This method works well for dishes like golden pan-seared trout with almonds, zesty lemon-butter sole, or Cajun-spiced catfish. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side in a hot, oiled skillet for perfectly crisp results, and enjoy with your favorite side.

Steaming

Steaming is a healthy cooking method that preserves the fish’s natural flavors. It’s ideal for delicate preparations like ginger-scallion steamed sea bass, garlic and herb steamed halibut, or a light lemongrass and coconut milk steamed salmon. Most fish will steam to perfection in 5-10 minutes.

Brace yourself, spice lovers! If you thought jalapeños were hot, wait until you try these dishes. From curries that can make you sweat to wings that bring tears to your eyes, these are the top five spiciest foods in the world. Are you brave enough to take a bite?

Phaal Curry – India

This dish is known for being one of the hottest curries you can find. Made with a blend of 10 different types of chili peppers Phaal is not for the faint-hearted. Even seasoned chili fans approach this dish with caution, as it packs a serious punch.

Sichuan Hot Pot – China

This bubbling cauldron of broth is spiked with Sichuan peppercorns and dried chili peppers, creating a numbing, spicy sensation that builds with each bite. The broth is so intense that it often leaves diners in a sweat, their taste buds tingling from the heat.

Som Tam (Spicy Papaya Salad) – Thailand

The Som Tam may look innocent, but don’t be fooled. This popular street food dish is a fiery mix of shredded green papaya, lime juice, fish sauce, and a hefty dose of bird’s eye chili peppers.

Suicide Chicken Wings – USA

Another contender for spiciest food is the Suicide Chicken Wings from the USA. These wings are often coated in sauces made from some of the hottest peppers in the world, including Carolina Reaper and Trinidad Scorpion. Just one bite of these fiery wings is enough to bring tears to your eyes.

Kimchi Jjigae – Korea

This spicy stew is made with kimchi, gochujang (Korean chili paste), and gochugaru (Korean chili flakes). The combination of fermented cabbage and fiery spices makes this dish a favorite for those who love a deep, lingering heat.

The cast iron skillet is extremely versatile, easily moving from stovetop to oven. It also has great heat retention ensuring even cooking, making it ideal for a variety of dishes. In sum, it’s a kitchen wonder and perfect for an easy dinner. Here are three cast iron skillet meals that will leave you with minimal cleanup and maximum satisfaction.

Sizzling Fajita Platter

Create a Tex-Mex feast with marinated slices of chicken, beef, or portobello mushrooms seared to perfection. Add bell peppers and onions to the skillet until charred, mix with the protein, and serve directly from the skillet for a communal, festive meal.

Skillet Pizza

Elevate pizza night by pressing your favorite dough into the skillet for a crispy yet chewy crust. Consider a pesto or a creamy garlic sauce instead of traditional red sauce, topping with mozzarella, goat cheese, and preferred toppings. Bake in a hot oven until the cheese is bubbly and the crust golden brown.

One-Skillet Creamy Tuscan Chicken

Sear chicken breasts for a golden crust, then set aside. In the same skillet, cook garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, and spinach, deglaze with white wine, and add cream and Parmesan, simmering into a rich sauce. Return the chicken to the skillet and bake until tender for an indulgent dinner.
