Recent evidence suggests that in order to benefit from eating fresh fruit and vegetables, we really need to be eating a variety, especially if we want to support gut health. Nutritionists have recently come up with a goal of eating 30 different plants a week, which may sound like a lot! However, it’s easier than you think. Just read these tips to up your intake and you’ll be hitting 30 in no time.

Hot Drinks

Herbal teas can count towards your 30 a week, so try and vary the teas and hot drinks you consume. Try peppermint, which aids digestion, camomile, which soothes and calms, and rooibos, which is naturally caffeine free.

Mixed Seeds

If you’re having nuts and seeds over your morning cereal, try and get a mixture in. Rather than opting for one type, a combination will provide different nutrients and can count towards your 30-a-week goal.

Mixed Greens

If you’re steaming some broccoli to pair with your main meal, why not add some spinach, cabbage, or other greens? You’ll get a wider range of nutrients, and some different tastes on your plate, and it all counts towards that 30-a-week goal.
