One of the most trendy drinks that people love consuming in this day and age is smoothies. Whether you’re a huge fan of big corporate chains such as Jamba Juice, or your local mom-and-pop smoothie joint, smoothies can be a great way to refresh your mind and energize your body. There’s also a belief that smoothies can be super healthy for you. But how accurate is that?

Finding the Balance

For the most part, you can rest assured knowing that smoothies are, indeed, pretty healthy. After all, they’re usually made with fruit, as well as a variety of different vitamins and nutrients that are known to be good for you. However, that doesn’t mean that you should just drink any smoothie that’s on the menu.

The truth is that there are plenty of smoothies you can buy that are filled with ingredients that aren’t exactly the epitome of health. There are “chocolate smoothies”, or ones loaded with peanut butter, or ones that place a strong emphasis on sorbet. These are all elements that can be healthy in moderation, but too much of it isn’t necessarily good for you.

This is why it’s important to find a balance with your smoothies. Keep a close eye on specifically which ingredients are actually in it—and try to keep your smoothie intake to a minimum throughout the week.
