Famous chef Jamie Oliver divided his fans recently with a pizza recipe that requires grapes. It happened in a recent episode of his show Keep Cooking Family Favourites where he shared a recipe for a seemingly common pizza with a “secret ingredient”.

Feeling intrigued? You can watch the grape pizza segment from the episode in the video below. It shows Oliver making a pizza with sausage, olive oil, red onion, pine nuts, and dried tomato pesto. Surprisingly, he adds “just a handful” of grapes as well, claiming that “once you try it, the sweetness, the saltiness, the whole kind of thing, is beautiful.”

Oliver calls the combination of pizza and grapes “a game-changer,” and until we try it, we have to believe what he says. The recipe he shares is easy enough to follow so if you have the ingredients on hand, you can make it and test if he’s right.

Will this settle the long-lasting debate about putting pineapple on pizza? Are we close to making fruit toppings on savory pizzas a common thing? We’ll have to wait a bit and see. For now, Oliver’s Twitter poll shows that the majority of nearly 2,000 participants (65%) aren’t ready to start adding grapes to pizza.
