A Yogurt Company is Offering You the Chance to Live in Iceland

A yogurt company is offering you the opportunity to live a “more simple life”—in Iceland. Siggi’s is seeking someone to take up the freelance gig of “Chief Simplicity Offi-skyr” which will involve living their best life in the Nordic nation.

Iceland is famous for its Northern Lights and volcanoes, but another major part of Icelandic culture is skyr. Although the dairy product originated in Norway, it has been part of Icelandic cuisine for centuries. Similar to yogurt, but with a thicker consistency, skyr is known for being slightly sour and far less sweet than traditional yogurts. In fact, in Iceland, it is considered a type of cheese.

Siggi’s was started in 2005 when Siggi Hilmarsson found yogurts in the US too sweet for his taste. Missing the skyr he grew up with in Iceland, he began to make his own based on a recipe from his mom and eventually opened his own skyr dairy. Now, Siggi’s is looking for someone to document all of Iceland’s other simple pleasures.

“This freelancing gig of Chief Simplicity Offi-skyr will allow someone to spend time in Iceland living and documenting a simple life during the country’s new, successful 4-day work week,” states the website.

The role includes detailing the experience of chasing the Northern Lights, waterfalls, glaciers, and all that Iceland’s nature has to offer through photography, writing, and other means. The successful applicant will also help come up with new skyr flavors based on Icelandic cuisine and be compensated up to $50,000 for work commissioned by Siggi’s as part of the gig.

That can buy a lot of skyr!
