A Special Scotch Has Been Created in Honor of James Bond’s 60th Anniversary

James Bond may have famously preferred martinis, but a collection of whiskies has been created especially in his honor. The reason for the Scotch? To celebrate 60 years of the secret agent on screen.

Although Bond was created by Ian Fleming in 1953, he made his film debut in 1962’s Dr. No with Sean Connery playing the famous character. Six decades and as many leading men later, the franchise includes 25 movies and The Macallan is releasing a drab to mark the occasion.

“The Macallan is James Bond’s whisky of choice and as two renowned global brands, we share many synergies, most notably as modern innovators linked by our Scottish heritage,” says The Macallan’s global creative director, Jaume Ferras.

Master Whisky Maker at The Macallan, Kirsteen Campbell, has created the Scotch which is set to feature “fresh and vibrant notes of lemon and lime, a sprinkle of sherbet, leading into a sweet vanilla and coconut, with a hint of dried fig and raisin.” There will also be flavors of “orange zest and fizzy sherbet with a lemon freshness, gentle oak, and subtle ginger spice, leading into deep dark chocolate, figs, and baked apple tart with a honey drizzle.“

To acknowledge 007’s six decades, the whisky will be bottled across six different packages featuring scene sketches and script pages.

The bottles will be available online from this month, but won’t specifically be sold in the U.S. until February.
