Moving can be stressful. Packing your fragile dishes, sharp utensils, and bulky kitchen appliances can seem like an impossible task. But don’t worry. Here are a few tips to help you out.

Declutter Before You Pack

Before you start packing, sort through your kitchen and set aside items you no longer use or need. Consider donating or selling these items to lighten your load.

Gather Packing Supplies

Collect sturdy boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, dish towels, and packing tape. These materials will be your best allies.

Pack Fragile Items Carefully

Place dishes vertically in sturdy boxes, layering packing paper or towels between each plate. For glassware, wrap each piece in packing paper and cushion the bottom and sides of the box with extra padding to minimize movement during transit.

Secure Sharp Objects

Make sure sharp knives and other kitchen tools are packed safely. Wrap each knife with cardboard or bubble wrap. Consider using knife guards or blade covers for added protection.

Pack Appliances Properly

For small appliances like blenders or coffee makers, dismantle removable parts and pack them separately. Use the original packaging if available, or wrap the appliance in bubble wrap and place it in a snug-fitting box with padding to prevent shifting.
