After buying your first juicer, you’ll be tempted to try juicing every fruit that you come across, but some of them simply don’t belong inside this kitchen tool. Here are five fruits that are better left out of your juicer and used in a different way.

Banana

Bananas are a beloved smoothie staple, and if you want to enjoy them in a liquid form, blending them is your best bet because they simply don’t have enough juice to go around.

Pineapple

Pineapple can be juiced, but consuming it this way won’t do you any favors. The juicing process strips it from its healthy vitamins and fiber, leaving you with nothing but sugar, so it’s much better to eat it fresh.

Avocado

Just like bananas, avocados can technically be juiced, but that’s just a waste of good fruit. They don’t contain a lot of juice, so it’s a better idea to blend them instead.

Whole Apples

Apples can be juiced, but don’t be too lazy when putting them inside your juicer. It’s extremely important to remove the seeds first because they can contain amygdalin, which can be toxic.

Pears

Pears can be juiced, but you should tread lightly when consuming them this way. The tricky thing about them is that they contain a non-digestible form of sugar called sorbitol, which can lead to a quick bowel movement.
