Baking recipes will often require you to use soft butter as an ingredient. The simplest way to get some is to take the butter out of the fridge and leave it to soften at room temperature, anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour. But what happens when you’re in a hurry and need some soft butter ASAP? Well, in that case, just use one of the tricks below.

Chop Chop

One of the ways to soften butter quicker is to chop it into smaller pieces. This will allow the butter to get exposed to warm air more evenly and will achieve the desired consistency a lot quicker. Additionally, you can beat it with a mixer to speed up the process even more.

Grating

This is a variation of the previous trick. Simply take the needed amount of butter and grate it on the side with the largest shredding holes. The idea is also to expose more butter to the air.

Rolling Pin

Take the block of butter and cover it with parchment paper on both sides. Then press the butter with a rolling pin and keep on rollin’ (pun intended). After the butter flat, it is ready to be used.

Bowl with Warm Water

Cover the butter with parchment paper and then place a bowl with warm water on top of it. The butter will absorb the heat and start softening. Just don’t forget to flip the butter to soften it evenly.
