An easy way to turn an okay day into a great one is to visit the market and get some fresh food, topped with a bunch of fresh herbs. Herbs are a great way to cook tastier, more colorful meals, and to fall in love with the process over and over again. Most of us, however, tend to use the leaves and toss the stems, so here are 3 ways to actually use herb stems.

Infuse Oils

Rosemary, sage, oregano, and thyme stems are perfect for tossing in olive oil or your favorite vinegar and letting it infuse the flavor. This is a simple trick that can be a real game-changer when it comes to cooking your favorite meals.

Soup Cooking

Any soup or broth will be tastier if you add herb stems while it’s cooking. Just make sure to remove them when it’s cooked! It can be your little secret for making the tastiest soups in the world.

Sprinkle Wherever You Want

There’s no reason why you can’t chop up the stems and add them to your food. Sauces, salads, frittatas, burgers, and many other foods can only be better if you add some finely chopped tender herb stems.
