As far as superfoods go, salmon is clearly in the category. The fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, and selenium, and can prevent heart disease and memory loss due to age. Plus, it’s absolutely delicious!

Salmon is also a delicate fish, meaning you have to cook it just right to get the best out of it. Here are some dos and don’ts.

Crisp it Up

Everyone loves chicken skin when it’s crispy, and salmon skin is just as good. Start by frying your fish skin-side down until it is lightly browned and crispy. Then, flip the salmon over and continue the cooking process.

Cool Down

When salmon gets too hot during the cooking process, protein begins to seep out in the form of a white liquid. To prevent this from happening, keep the heat on medium-low, or sear the fish in the pan before finishing it off in the oven.

Let it Rest

As delicate as it is, salmon is actually quite similar to steak. Much like a good fillet, salmon should be cooked between medium and medium-rare. After removing it from the heat, let the fish rest for five minutes before digging in.
