Dish soap can be used to clean all sorts of things, both in and out of the kitchen, but certain dishes should never be washed with it. If you’re a little bit confused regarding which things can or can’t be washed with dish soap, these are the ones that absolutely can’t.

Many coffee lovers swear by Moka pots because they make this tasty beverage 100% better. If you happen to be one of them, you should rethink the way you’re washing your Moka pots. Dish soap may remove its thin oily layer over time, so washing it with plain water is your best bet.

Dishwasher

Putting dish soap in your dishwasher when you’re running out of dishwasher detergent may seem like a good idea, but it’s actually a disaster waiting to happen. They have very different formulas, and dish soap wasn’t created with a dishwasher in mind so it might end up harming it or create a bubbly mess.

Cast Iron Skillet

Using dish soap to clean your cast iron skillet can be done, but it shouldn’t be done all the time. You’ll need to oil your skillet to create the non-stick surface, and constant use of dish soap could sabotage this endeavor. Warm water and a sprinkle of salt are all you need to keep your cast iron skillet clean.
