3 Cereals That Are Deceptively Unhealthy

If you’re one of those people who eats cereal every single morning for breakfast, then this article is likely to hit home with you. Cereal is one of the most common breakfasts out there, from its excellent variety to its (occasional) health benefits. Let’s focus on the latter, because oftentimes cereal companies advertise their cereal to be healthy when in reality, it’s not so much the case. Here are three cereals that are actually deceptively unhealthy.

Honey Nut Cheerios

The fact of the matter is that the original, tasteless, regular Cheerios are pretty healthy—but that doesn’t mean Honey Nut Cheerios fall under that same category. Sure, you can give yourself a pat on the back for not eating Lucky Charms, but Honey Nut Cheerios shouldn’t be considered “healthy” just because they have the word “Cheerios” in their title.

Quaker Flavored Instant Oatmeal

A similar argument can be stated about most Quaker Flavored Instant Oatmeals. Oatmeal at its core is usually healthy, but many Instant Oatmeals that are offered with flavor varieties, such as maple and brown sugar or apple and cinnamon, are less healthy because of those flavors.

Cinnamon Life

This one is tough to write, because Cinnamon Life is just a wonderful cereal inside and out. But there’s no way around it. It’s not the healthiest cereal around, or at least not as healthy as it seems. Due to its “bran-like” appearance and colorless facade, it seems like healthier than it is—but we wouldn’t recommend eating it every day.
