Why Cereal Isn’t Necessarily the Best Breakfast to Help Lose Weight

We all know that much-repeated saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But is cereal really the best way to start your day? Research shows that cold cereal is the breakfast of choice for American adults. But is this the right choice?

It turns out that standard cereals are usually full of sugar, sending your blood sugar on an unhealthy spiral from the get go.

For example, a breakfast consisting of 2 ½ cups Raisin Bran Crunch, 1 ½ cups milk, and 1 cup of orange juice provides nearly 800 calories, and almost 80 grams of sugar. That’s a lot of calories, and a huge amount of sugar.

It’s important to begin your day with a meal that has a good dose of protein and vitamins. A better choice than cold cereal is a vegetable-packed omelet, that comes in at only just over 500 calories, with just 13 grams of sugar.

An omelet made of three eggs, and containing veggies such as onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, avocado, and sweet potatoes, packs in all the flavor and nutrients you need to start your day the right way.
