If you’re vegetarian or vegan and you haven’t heard of or started using soy curls in your cooking yet, we’re excited to introduce them to you, as they can add so much diversity to your recipes. Made of soybeans, soy curls are little strands of dehydrated protein that can be used in cooking. Like tofu and tempeh, they don’t have much flavor of their own, which means that they are really versatile and you can do pretty much whatever you want with them.

Soy curls come dry so you have to rehydrate them in water before cooking but, after that, the possibilities are endless. Here are just some ideas for ways to use soy curls:

  • Use them to make fake taco meat
  • Make them into sloppy joes with barbecue sauce
  • Make vegan chicken noodle soup
  • Put them in a stir fry
  • Use them in a curry
  • Deep fry them and make fake chicken strips
  • Make fake ground beef
  • Make fake bacon bits
  • Use them in vegan chili
  • Flavor them and add them to a salad as protein
  • Make vegan Mongolian beef
  • Make soy curl jerky

As you can see, there are so many different ways to use soy curls. So buy a bag and get creative!
