Crudités is a fancy word meaning assorted raw vegetables. Normally they are served on a platter with a few different dips. Having a crudite is super important because there are often so many unhealthy and heavy items that you need something to balance everything out. Although it just seems like a vegetable plate, you do have to put some thought into it. Here is a guide to help you make some key decisions.

Vegetables

The vegetables you choose for the platter is one of the important decisions to make, and you should really have at least four options. Try to find whatever is local and in season to serve because those vegetables will be the freshest and most delicious. Also, try to cut the vegetables no more than two hours in advance to keep them fresher longer.

Dips

For any crudite, you need to have at least two kinds of dips. Some ideas can be hummus, ranch, tzatziki, tahini, or anything you find at the store. However, since you only need to cut up vegetables, consider making your own.

Extras

Although crudités is normally only dip and vegetables, think about adding some extras to the plate, like nuts, crackers, or slices of bread.
