Ingredients
- 1 pound all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 package dry yeast
- 3 tablespoons soft vegan butter
- 1 cup warm water
- 4 tablespoons baking soda
- 6 sprigs of thyme
- 4 ounces vegan cheddar style cheese
Instructions
- Mix flour, salt and yeast, then add butter and warm water. Knead the dough until smooth.
- Leave the dough in a bowl to rest and rise for 60 minutes or, even better, overnight in the fridge.
- Preheat oven to 220 C° and prepare the baking tray with parchment paper.
- Bring 70 ounces of water to a boil and add 4 tablespoons of baking soda.
- Place the dough onto a lightly greased surface. Add thyme leaves and diced vegan cheddar cheese and knead until the dough is smooth.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and make 4 pretzels.
- Boil each pretzel for about 1/2 minute, transfer to the baking tray and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake the pretzels for 20 minutes until golden brown
