The Surprisingly Best Way to Make Oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of the healthiest and tastiest things you can eat in the morning. It’s gotten even trendier over the years, with a heavy emphasis on overnight oats, as well as uncooked oatmeal mixed with yogurt and fruit. However, if you’re someone who loves making good old-fashioned hot oatmeal, here’s one way to cook it that we believe is surprisingly superior.

Using a Microwave

When it comes to cooking most things, the microwave rarely ever gets the nod as being the best way to cook something. This is because it tends to make food soggy, moist, rubbery, and devoid of heavily-needed crispiness. However, when it comes to oatmeal, it’s a whole other ballgame.

Heating up oatmeal with boiling water is an excellent way to cook it, but there’s only one problem—the texture. It tends to be a tad “watery”, and the oatmeal itself rarely expands as fast as you want it to. However, when you cook it in the microwave, the texture of the oatmeal is considerably more creamy, and fluffier as well.

This makes for an all-around better experience when eating oatmeal in the morning. Oh yeah, and it only takes two minutes to heat it up in the microwave, so it’s great from a practical perspective as well!
