Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and that has us thinking about chocolate-covered strawberries. Don’t get us wrong, we love this classic dessert, but for 2022 we think it’s time to shake things up a bit. This healthy milkshake recipe is simple and nutritious from the vitamin c-packed strawberries, but also bursting with rich chocolate flavor. Double the recipe to share it with a loved one or prepare it as written as a way to show yourself some love. Go ahead and treat yourself—you deserve it, and not just on Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries (frozen will make the shake much thicker, but both work)
  • 1 frozen banana (make sure banana is ripe before you freeze, the riper the banana, the sweeter the shake)
  • 1 cup plant milk of your choice (oat milk adds creaminess, soy milk adds protein)
  • 1 date, pitted
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips of choice (we like dark!)
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients except for the chocolate chips to a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Add chocolate chips in and pulse a few times—just enough to break them up a bit.
  3. Serve in a tall glass and enjoy! Sprinkle more chocolate on top if desired.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, with this year’s annual celebration of love taking place on Friday, February 14th. Couples from around the world will give gifts and spend time together on this special day.

Is your partner a foodie? If so, one of the best treats that you can gift them is chocolate-covered snacks. Here are three to have in mind when making this year’s Valentine’s Day purchases.

Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

Chocolate-covered strawberries are a classic Valentine’s Day treat, and they should definitely be on your list for this year’s festivities. We especially like dark chocolate-covered strawberries, whose slightly bitter quality lets the tartness and sweetness of the strawberry be the protagonist of the snack.

Chocolate-Covered Almonds

Did you know that National Almond Day is celebrated the week after Valentine’s Day? Get two things done in one fell swoop and gift your lover chocolate-covered almonds for the holiday! They are sure to love their delectable, sweet flavor.

Chocolate-Covered Cherries

If you are looking for an alternative chocolate-covered fruit to strawberries, cherries are a great option for Valentine’s Day. Possessing many of the same qualities as strawberries, namely sweetness and tartness, these fruits are a great option to be dipped in chocolate.

If you want to impress your loves one or just impress your close family and friends, you should really reconsider buying that box of candy. It’s time to show just how much you love them by making awesome homemade chocolate covered strawberries. This make-ahead treat can be done in less than an hour and here’s the recipe!

Prep your berries – rinse your strawberries gently and pat dry (make sure they are completely dry).

Melt you chocolate – roughly chop 4 ounces of semisweet chocolate. Place chocolate in a pan over low heat, stirring frequently. You can also melt your chocolate in the microwave, heating it up in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.

Dip the strawberries – hold the strawberry by the stem and dip in the melted chocolate, letting the chocolate excess drip off. Transfer the dipped strawberries onto your baking sheet lined with wax paper.

Chill the strawberries – refrigerate the strawberries until the chocolate is firm (this will take at least 30 minutes). They will keep up like that for up to 3 days, covered in the refrigerator.

And there it is, just a perfect dessert for someone you love!
