Step Up Your Morning Oatmeal With Inspiration From Apple Pie

There is little that compares to the comfort of a nice slice of hot apple pie, but this apple pie oatmeal comes pretty close! Level up your morning oatmeal by incorporating a few extra ingredients that will leave you satisfied and nourished from the start of your day. Oatmeal is great because it provides protein and whole grains into your diet, which is great for maintaining energy throughout the day. This is a perfect way to level up your normal morning oats so that you actually look forward to eating breakfast!

Ingredients:

  • 1 apple (diced)
  • 1 cup oats
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Put your diced apple, oats, and milk into a pot over medium heat. Stir often to avoid anything from sticking to the bottom and burning.
  2. When the milk begins to bubble, lower heat and add cinnamon. Stir to combine and continue to simmer until the oats have fully absorbed the milk. 
  3. Remove oats from heat and place in a bowl. Drizzle honey over top. You can sprinkle brown sugar on top for some extra sweetness, but it is optional.
  4. Enjoy your delicious homemade apple pie oatmeal!
