Muffin pans come in many different shapes and sizes, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to picking between steel and silicone models. If you’re not sure which one is right for you, here are a couple of things you should keep in mind when making your choice.

Steel Muffin Pans

Made with either stainless steel or aluminum, these muffin pans are one of the most popular options on the market for a couple of reasons. They’re amazing at conducting heat, allowing your muffins to bake evenly.

Nonstick steel pans can rust over time, but you won’t have to deal with the same problem with aluminum models. If you pick a proper pan made with thicker aluminum, you’ll be able to use it for years to come because this material is known for its durability.

Silicone Muffin Pans

Silicone pans are also super-popular because they allow for a quick release of your muffins thanks to their flexible form. You also won’t need a nonstick coating for that reason, and this material also happens to be freezer, dishwasher, and microwave safe.

The muffins won’t cook as evenly in your silicone pan, and you’ll probably need to put it inside a baking sheet because it’s too floppy to handle on its own. If this puts you off, you should consider buying a silicone muffin pan with a built-in steel frame.
