Light, sweet, and buttery, spritz cookies are an ideal treat to delight your family and friends with on Christmas. Here’s how you can create scrumptious, holiday-themed spritz cookies just in time for Christmas this year.
Lay the Foundation
In a small bowl, mix flour with salt and whisk thoroughly. Take out your stand mixer, place cream butter and granulated sugar inside the bowl, and mix well for about four minutes. Add egg and almond extract and beat until mixed in completely.
Ready the Dough
Add the dough to the butter mixture and once mixed divide into three bowls. Add food coloring to each mixture. You could add green to one and red to another while keeping the third plain. Place the dough into a spritz cookie press where you’ll be able to add the desired shape to each cookie.
Bake
Once pressed, place each cookie on a baking tray and bake in the oven until each one is lightly bronzed on the sides. Then, allow the cookies to cool. Your Christmas cookies are now ready to serve.
