One great thing about burgers is that you can customize them in countless ways, so you can hardly get tired of them. However, if that ever happens to you, there is one thing you can do to escape burger fatigue—try Juicy Lucy.

A Midwest staple, Juicy Lucy represents a fun twist on a regular cheeseburger. Instead of having cheese on top of the burger patty, Juicy Lucy has cheese inside the patty. This simple adjustment makes a world of difference and results in the juiciest burger you will ever have.

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces ground beef
  • 2 slices American cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • pickles
  • 2 soft hamburger buns

Instructions:

1. Combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Mix well.

2. Form four equally-sized ground beef balls. Form each into a thin patty.

3. Take one American cheese slice and cut it into four pieces. Arrange the pieces on one of the ground beef patties, so they slightly overlap in the middle and don’t cross the edges. Place a second patty on top and seal the sides. Do the same with the remaining two ground beef patties and American cheese slices.

4. Heat the vegetable oil in an iron skillet and cook the Juicy Lucy patties on medium-high heat for four to five minutes on each side.

5. When cooked, serve on a hamburger bun alongside some sliced pickles.

6. Dig in.
