When you walk into a regular 7-11, and meander on over to the cooler, you’d see about a hundred different kinds of drinks available for you to try. This is where we are in society—there’s a product for just about everything. But one of these drinks has been there longer than most, and we’re talking about Gatorade. So what is it about Gatorade that has stood the test of time? And furthermore, is it even good for you?

It Has Benefits

Let’s first get this out of the way. Gatorade is darn delicious when it’s cold and the day is hot—perhaps this is the primary source of the drink’s impressive longevity. Furthermore, the drink does have certain health benefits, specifically electrolytes that can energize you if you’re an athlete and in the midst of a long run.

Don’t Make it a Habit

However, it should be noted that while there are certain benefits to Gatorade, we wouldn’t exactly categorize it as a “health drink”. It’s not the kind of beverage that we’d recommend drinking every day, but rather in basic moderation when the time calls for it. It may be a product that has maintained a strong, successful run in our society, but that doesn’t really mean that it’s healthy to drink all the time. So keep it casual, and don’t go overboard with it.
