Going out and buying a blender is the easy part. Now that you’re the proud owner of a shiny new kitchen appliance, you need to decide what you’re going to do with it! Read on for a little inspiration to get going with your blender.

Hummus

Get creative and put a twist on the chickpea classic. Traditional recipes call for chickpeas, olive oil, lemon juice, tahini, and seasoning, but with a food processor, you can add nutritious extras into this mix very easily. Fresh herbs including parsley and basil work well, or you could experiment with a different blend of legumes such as kidney beans, butter beans, and lentils. Swap out tahini for a different seed or nut oil, or really change things up by blending in cooked butternut squash or courgettes.

Chocolate Spread

Melt 1 cup of good-quality dark chocolate into 1/4 cup of melted coconut oil. Once cool enough, add to your food processor along with 1/4 cup of peanut butter (or another nut or seed butter). Add in any extra flavorings, such as cinnamon or even a little bit of cayenne pepper, then blend together to create a delicious, healthier chocolate spread.

You will need to remove the mix and sift it a few times to get a fine enough flour, but after a few blends, you will have made your own flour! Now the question is what to bake using it…
