Seeing the dentist ranks at the top of uncomfortable activities for most people. And while this is the only way to make sure your teeth are healthy, there are things you can do to make the trips to the dentist’s office less frequent. In particular, adding these fruit and veggies to your diet will help you have healthier teeth.

Carrots

Munching on carrots is a great way to contribute to healthier teeth and overall health. Besides being rich in beta carotene and vitamin K1, carrots also help stimulate your gums when you eat them due to their crunchy nature. Stimulated gums equal to healthy gums, which leads to better teeth and oral health.

Apples

They say that “one apple a day keeps the doctor away.” And while this isn’t exactly true, apples can help you keep dentists away for some time.

Eating apples will lead to cleaner teeth due to their rich fiber content, and the fruit also stimulates your gums as you bite and chew. They help reduce the bacteria in your mouth that causes a cavity as well.

Citrus Fruit

Citruses pack large amounts of Vitamin C, while their fiber-rich nature helps keep your teeth clean as you chew. They also increase salivation, which in return washes away the left-over particles of food that could cause damage to your teeth.

Lettuce, Cabbage, Spinach

Munching on green and leafy vegetables, like lettuce, cabbage, and spinach, can also help you reduce trips to the dentist. These veggies have loads of vitamins and minerals that play a significant part in maintaining great oral health. In particular, they’re rich in Vitamin A, which is essential in building strong teeth. Also, they have phosphorus, which gets stored in the teeth and contributes to your body’s efforts to balance calcium and magnesium.
