These no-bake treats are ideal when you want a rich chocolate cake without having to turn the oven on. There’s no faffing around with baking techniques here, but the results are super tasty and satisfying.
Ingredients (makes 12):
- 3 cups rice crispies
- 8 oz butter
- 4 oz chocolate
- 2 tablespoons golden syrup
Instructions:
- Break the chocolate into smaller sections
- In a large heatproof bowl, add the butter and the chocolate
- Place a pan of water on the heat and bring to a gentle simmer
- Put the heatproof bowl on top of this, regularly checking to ensure the water doesn’t bubble over
- Continuously stir the butter and chocolate until they’re both completely melted
- Add the golden syrup and stir throughout
- Remove the bowl from the heat, and add the rice crispies
- Stir them in, ensuring they’re all completely coated in the mixture
- Into a muffin tin, place some cake cases
- Spoon the mixture into each of these
- You can add a topping of your choice, for example, chopped nuts or desiccated coconut
- Once the mixture has completely cooled, place the tray in the fridge for about an hour until the cakes have become solid
- Remove and enjoy!
