There’s nothing quite like a warm, toasted loaf of bread and a plate of bread-dipping oil to start out a great meal. Usually, these luxuries are reserved for when we go out to a restaurant, but who says you can’t make it at home? In fact, it’s actually super easy. Get some yummy bread and make a big batch that can last you weeks! Here are some of the best additions to any bread-dipping oil (keep in mind that the base is a high-quality extra virgin olive oil)!

Garlic

Of course, we have to start the list with the star of any bread-dipping oil—garlic! Load it up with some freshly minced ginger and it will already start tasting gourmet. You can add as much (or as little) garlic as you like, but don’t be shy. Nobody cares if your breath smells like garlic, as long as you give them a taste of the delicious bread and oil!

Dried Herbs

Some of the best dried herbs to add to a bread-dipping oil are oregano and basil. They really give it that Italian spice blend flavor that reminds you of your favorite cozy Italian restaurant.

Red Pepper Flakes

If you like a bit of a kick to your oil, try adding some crushed red pepper flakes. Depending on how much you add, they can really bring the heat to your bread-dipping oil.
