The freezer is an important kitchen appliance that helps us store food for weeks and months—but if it’s not organized properly, you can easily forget about certain foods and the freezer loses its purpose. Here are some tips that’ll help you organize your freezer in no time, preventing you from wasting food unnecessarily in the process.

Know Your Habits

No two freezers have the same content, and you know your habits best. What do you freeze most often: raw meat, fruits and veggies, or leftovers? Do you always have a big box of ice cream or a few frozen pizzas there? What do you reach for the most often? Answering questions like these will make it clear what should be more accessible on a daily basis.

Buy Some Bins

If your freezer doesn’t have any type of organization, the best idea is to get some bins and split them into zones. Separating the food when you put it in the freezer will make finding what you’re looking for so much easier, and you’ll always see how much of a certain category you still have.

Write Notes

You don’t have to get a label maker if that’s not your thing, but writing which food is in which container (along with the date you put in the freezer) can make your life so much easier! It only takes a few minutes and it will help you use up everything you have in time and distinguish different leftovers without unpleasant surprises.
