The Thanksgiving meal is one many look forward to for weeks. Here are three ideas for exciting side dishes to try this year.
Peas, Leeks, and Pancetta
Boil some frozen peas and drain once cooked. Chop up some leeks. In a large pot, heat some oil and add the leeks. Fry for about 5 minutes, until soft. Add the pancetta and continue to fry for another 3 minutes. Add the peas and continue to fry for another couple of minutes, ensuring everything is cooked.
Roast Cauliflower
Try this as an alternative to cauliflower cheese. Preheat your oven to 350 ℉. Chop a cauliflower head into florets, then add to an oven-proof dish. Coat with olive oil and sprinkle over some sea salt, thyme, cumin, and paprika, and mix these all through. Place into the oven and roast for 40-50 minutes, stirring halfway through.
Carrot, Parsnip, and Swede Mash
These three root vegetables complement each other perfectly. Just chop them up, add them to a large pot of water, and increase the heat to a boil. Leave to simmer for about 10 minutes. Once cooked, add some butter and then mash up until smooth.
