When attempting to wow a throng of people who will be joining you for dinner, it can feel quite stressful. If you’re not someone who’s particularly experienced in the kitchen, it’s overwhelming to prepare so many dishes. You hang on to your recipe book for dear life, almost as if it’s the Bible itself. Yes, recipe books are important when you’re starting out. But it’s also important to remember that even amateurs can have brilliant ideas—and you should document them when they strike.

Never Underestimate Yourself

Believe it or not, you may come up with an amazing recipe even when you’re starting out. Sure, you may need other recipes to get started, but eventually, you’ll start to have ideas of your own. There’s no reason that you can’t come up with your own ideas, and it’s important to get yourself into that mindset. That’s the first step toward becoming a confident chef.

Write It Down

When you come up with a dish on your own that ends up wowing a large group of people, do yourself (and everyone else) a favor and write it down. It doesn’t matter if this recipe is just for you—but who knows, maybe your mom will want to borrow it sometime!
